West Chester, OH – UC Health’s West Chester Hospital continues to expand neuroscience services with the addition of a new UC Health Neurosurgery Clinic on the West Chester campus. Physicians began seeing patients in the new clinic at the start of 2018. The clinic is a one-stop care destination designed to meet the unique needs of individuals with neurological disorders and conditions that require surgery, including:

  • Cerebrovascular Disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Functional Neurological Disorders
  • Brain Tumors
  • Back, Neck and Spine Disorders

The UC Health Neurosurgery Clinic complements the hospital’s increased neurological care capabilities. In addition to the clinic, brain tumor surgery will also be added to the list of surgical procedures performed in the hospital.

“At UC Health, we believe every patient deserves to receive the very best treatment in the most caring environment,” said Nicholas Marko, MD, associate professor and director of the University of Cincinnati (UC) Brain Tumor Center and a member of the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute and UC Cancer Institute. “By providing advanced neuroscience treatments on the West Chester campus we are expanding access to clinical trials and proven state-of-the-art treatment options to patients in the northern Cincinnati region.”

In 2017, West Chester Hospital began expanding neuroscience services with the opening of a new Epilepsy Monitoring Unit. In that same year, the hospital received Primary Stroke Center designation from the Joint Commission.

“At West Chester Hospital, we continue to explore new and innovative ways to meet the unique needs of a growing population,” said Tom Daskalakis, chief administrative officer for West Chester Hospital. “The addition of new neuroscience treatments on our campus allows our team to give the members of our community access to world-class care close to home.”

As a member of the UC Health system, all West Chester Hospital neuroscience services align with the UC Gardner Neuroscience Institute. Working together, the team of physician experts from across the enterprise provides patients with the highest degree of patient experience, access to more comprehensive high-end surgical technologies, and the greatest amount of expertise found in the Greater Cincinnati area and beyond.
