West Chester apartment community wins national award

For the second time, Hills Properties Inc. has won a top national award for one of its apartment projects.

Savoy at the Streets of West Chester, a 272-unit community developed and owned by Blue Ash-based Hills Properties, won the National Apartment Association’s National Award of Excellence for communities with more than 150 units and only one to five years old. The announcement was made at the 2017 NAA Education Conference and Exposition in Atlanta.

Hills also won this award in 2013 for its Palmera community in MasonLouis Guttman, managing partner of Hills, said winning the award twice in four years “is the ultimate validation that we are doing things the right way.”

Savoy is a $30 million apartment development on 12 acres within walking distance of the restaurants, retail and entertainment at the Streets of West Chester. The community has a two-story clubhouse with cyber cafe, multiple resident lounge areas, fitness center, a covered central parking garage, salt water pool, tennis and bocce courts and a putting green. Individual apartments have quartz counters, stainless appliances, crown molding and tile backsplashes.

Savoy had the fastest lease-up in the Hills portfolio.

Hills is the fourth-largest homebuilder and the 86th-largest private company in Greater Cincinnati, according to Business Courier research. The company builds apartments, condominiums, single-family homes, executive and retail offices and warehouses. The company reported total 2016 revenue of $153.8 million.

The National Apartment Association is comprised of more than 72,000 members and represents more than 8.8 million apartment homes throughout the United States and Canada.
