iMFLUX

WEST CHESTER TWP. —

Zoning approval has been awarded to a company owned by Procter & Gamble that plans to open a plastics processing manufacturing plant in Butler County, the Journal-News has learned.

A construction contractor has received zoning approval from West Chester Twp. for the new use of an existing building on behalf of the tenant, iMFLUX, at 8910 Le Saint Drive, according to township records.

The building was previously occupied by BAE Systems, according to township officials.

However, Anna Hogan, spokeswoman for iMFLUX, said Tuesday the zoning approval doesn’t mean the company has made a final location decision.

“They are still in the evaluation process,” Hogan said.

The Journal-News reported Sept. 30 that the plastics processing company iMFLUX Inc., a subsidiary of the Cincinnati consumer products giant founded this year, was approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority for income tax credits. iMFLUX was approved for incentives for a proposed project in Butler County that includes investment in new machinery and equipment.

Plans call for a new facility that is projected to employ more than 200 people when fully operational, Hogan said. The company’s technology and processes are currently in the patent application process, she said.

The contractor JTF Construction Inc. applied to West Chester Twp. Aug. 29 for a zoning certificate for a new use of the existing building at 8910 Le Saint Drive. iMFLUX plans to occupy 292,500-square-feet of office and warehouse space, according to the certificate.

West Chester Twp. officials approved the zoning application for iMFLUX on Sept. 3.

The building is owned by Cohen Asset Management of Los Angeles, Calif. Officials with Cohen could not be reached for comment.

The building was formerly occupied by BAE Systems. The defense contractor BAE built armored vehicles in West Chester Twp. for military and commercial customers, but moved earlier in 2013 the military-related operations to Texas, cutting 160 jobs in West Chester Twp.

This is one of multiple buildings that BAE used to occupy.

From here, any building improvements would need a permit from the county, said Butler County Development Director David Fehr. However, the county had not received a permit application for 8910 Le Saint Drive as of Tuesday, Fehr said.
