The Group Health medical practice in Springdale will relocate to West Chester after construction is completed on a 48,910-square-foot office building in Butler County next September, TriHealth announced Wednesday.

Twelve doctors and 61 other employees will make the four-mile move from 55 Progress Place in Hamilton County to the new two-story medical office building at 8040 Princeton-Glendale Road (Ohio State Route 747).

Over the next five years, about 12 more primary care doctors and specialists will be added to the Butler County location along with 35 to 40 other employees.

A groundbreaking ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. today.

“We are trying to meet the large demand for health care in the northwest market of Cincinnati and Butler County,” said Vesta Johns, chief operating officer of TriHealth Physician Practices. “Our current site can no longer accommodate the growth and technology needs that are necessary.”

The design of Group Health West Chester will be based on a medical home model, which includes practices and services that are close to each other and shared spaces such as check-in/check-out and administration. The architect for the project is Cincinnati-based GBBN Architects, and the general contractor is Indianapolis-based Duke Realty. The facility will be owned and managed by Duke Realty, with Group Health leasing office space. The cost of the project wasn’t disclosed.

“This unique design will minimize the time patients need to move around the facility for care,” said Dr. Scott Slivka, an orthopedic surgeon with TriHealth’s Group Health in Springdale. “This will provide enhanced patient convenience and increased efficiency and collaboration among the health care professionals within the location.”

Previously known as Group Health Associates, the practice has more than 130 doctors and 18 specialists. It has nine office locations, including one at TriHealth Bethesda Butler Hospital, 3145 Hamilton-Mason Road in Butler County.

The West Chester office is expected to enhance market visibility for the Group Health practice, said Jerry Oliphant, TriHealth’s executive vice president and chief operating officer.

The new location will offer variety of specialties and services, including family medicine, adult medicine, orthopedics, rheumatology, podiatry, otolaryngology (ear, nose, throat), endocrinology, obstetrics, pediatrics, allergy, dermatology, general surgery, colon and rectal surgery, gastroenterology (digestive health), physical therapy, imaging, a laboratory, a pharmacy, audiology and hearing aid services, and conference rooms for public education.
