TSS Technologies intends to create about 125 jobs in the coming year, boosting its workforce by more than 60 percent to meet new contracts.

The new positions include mechanical and electrical engineers, program managers, supply chain management personnel as well as electro-mechanical assemblers, said Marc Drapp, CEO of the West Chester-based contract manufacturing firm.

TSS now employs about 200, including 25 recent hires. The firm has enough space to accommodate an additional 125 hires, bringing the workforce to 325.

About 80 percent of the new hires will work at the headquarters in Butler County, which encompasses 210,000 square feet. The rest will work out of the firm’s facility in the Hamilton County village of Woodlawn, which encompasses 60,000 square feet.

“We have invested significantly in our facilities, and these recent contract wins underline the importance that customers are placing in our innovative approach to engineering solutions,” Drapp said.

TSS recently landed new contracts valued at $70 million annually, primarily to provide contract manufacturing, custom automation and systems integration, he said.

“We have one large contract valued at close to $200 million over a five-year period,” said Drapp, who declined to name the company. “With some of newer customers, we’re building their production lines.”

TSS Technologies provides complex electro-mechanical assemblies and turnkey contract manufacturing solutions as well as automation and system integration for industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to medicine and consumer goods. Larger clients include Procter & Gamble Co., GE Healthcare and Valeo.

More hires could be coming, and TSS is looking to open a facility in California, Arizona or Nevada.

“It is something we’re seriously considering,” Drapp said. “It makes strategic sense for us to develop footprints in other places as we continue expansion efforts.”

TSS, which was established in 1948 in St. Bernard and previously known as Tool Sales and Services of Cincinnati, is owned by Brent Nichols.
