WEST CHESTER TWP. Construction on a new Kroger is set to launch in the next several weeks.

The 133,000-square-foot Marketplace location at the corner of Ohio 747 and Tylersville Road will be part of a planned 36-acre Crossings of Beckett shopping center, which will also include a fuel pump station and a small medical clinic, plus an additional 15,000 square feet of retail space next to Kroger and three outlots along Ohio 747.

Site work launched in December and now includes grading and utility work, according to Erin Rolfes, a Kroger spokeswoman. It could not start until after architectural and site plans were finalized, submitted for review and approved by local government jurisdictions, Rolfes said.

Building construction is weather dependent, but the company expects it to start this month or next, Rolfes said. A completion month is yet to be determined.

Kroger expects approximately 200 of its associates to transition to the new location, she said.

“Following the initial transition we anticipate a total of approximately 350 associates working at the location at the end of the first year of operation,” Rolfes said. “At the end of year three, we anticipate a total of 360 associates will work at the location.”

A second phase plan calls for 42,000 square feet of retail space, 22,000 square feet of office space and three additional outlots along Ohio 747.

The new Kroger Marketplace will replace a 71,000-square-foot Kroger at 8238 Princeton Glendale Road on the northeast corner Ohio 747 and Smith Road in the Beckett Commons shopping center.

Kroger will market the property in the near future for sublease. Any potential users would be market driven.
