CLARITY RETAIL STRATEGIC MANUFACTURING PARTNERS

Clarity Retail Services began as a two-person development agency focused on retail signage, displays, and graphics solutions. Less than two years after its formation, co-founders Lance Madden and Jim Gavigan pivoted away from the original agency-brokerage model, investing heavily in talent, equipment, and facilities, evolving into a multi-disciplined manufacturer over the last decade.

That decision reflects a philosophy Madden, Clarity's Chief Customer Officer, returns to often: the difference between costly and expensive. "A fair price that delivers real, lasting value is costly, but a low price that fails to deliver is expensive, no matter how cheap it looked going in". It's a distinction that shapes how the company goes to market, whether developing a 9,000-store rollout, onboarding new vendor partners, or developing new capabilities.

Jim Gavigan, Clarity's CEO explains, "Shoppers today demand much more than a competitive price, especially when they shop in person. The value of shopping on-premises has to be apparent at every customer touch point, from presentation, to in-stock positions, to a clean, bright atmosphere. We help our customers create positive experiences online shopping simply can't replicate".

Today, Clarity positions itself less as a manufacturer that happens to design, and more as a strategic resource that happens to manufacture — a distinction the brands and agencies it works with have come to rely on. Madden adds, "Our clients aren't just buying hardware; they're investing with a strategic partner who understands the "why" behind the physical elements that make up a store, with the expertise to deliver value, at scale".

Gavigan says, "West Chester has been central to our rapid growth. The space to build real manufacturing capacity, access to a skilled regional workforce, and a business community that still values manufacturing has all played a role in Clarity's trajectory, which now includes four consecutive years on the Inc 5000 list".

Looking ahead, the company says its growth will be sustained through deeper engagement with market leaders and continuing to focus on building programmatic, repeatable solutions rather than pursuing one-off projects.
