Cabela’s is planning a celebration for the opening of its first Greater Cincinnati store.

An arrow shot from a bow will cut the ribbon at the West Chester store’s grand opening on August 19, the Nebraska-based outdoor retailer announced on Thursday.

The 9:45 a.m. event will kick off a weekend-long celebration including special appearances, family events, giveaways, sales and more.

Cabela’s will employ more than 200 new hires at the 82,000-square-foot store off Exit 24 of Interstate 75 near Liberty Way. It will sell thousands of outdoor products and include a large mountain replica, museum-quality wildlife displays, an indoor archery range, deli, fudge shop, gun library and bargain cave along with a full-service boat shop and a selection of wildlife and land management products including tractors, attachments and implements.

The retailer will face competition for sporting and outdoor goods spending at the new site. Nearby Liberty Center, a $350 million mixed-use project, will be anchored by Dillard’s and a Dick’s Sporting Goods flagship store. Bass Pro Shops is also building a 150,000-square-foot store in close proximity, complete with a more than 10,000-square-foot restaurant and bowling alley called Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill.

The West Chester location will be Cabela¹s second store in Ohio, joining the Columbus store opened in 2013. Additionally, the company has announced plans to open locations in Centerville in spring 2016 and Avon in spring 2017. Cabela’s has 61 stores in North America and plans to open 18 more in the next two years.
