Advantage RN has acquired a California agency, projected to boost the locally headquartered company this year to $80 million in revenue.

West Chester-based Advantage RN, a company that staffs more than 400 health care facilities nationally, acquired PHS Staffing, a San Diego, Calif.-based company with similar operations in southern and northern California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah.

Terms were not disclosed, but PHS Staffing reported $18 million in annual revenue in 2011, according to Advantage RN.

PHS Staffing manages more than 200 health care providers and 45 internal employees at its headquarters.

That will add to the more than 500 traveling, temporary health care professionals managed by Advantage RN and its 90 internal employees spread between its West Chester headquarters and locations in Charlotte, N.C., Clearwater and Delray Beach, Fla., San Diego, Calif., and Sheridan, Wyo. In addition, the company has subsidiaries in Ohio, Florida and Utah.

PHS Staffing, a former division of Premier Healthcare Services Inc. of California, has achieved a nearly 40 percent average annual growth rate in the past three years, said Dan Gutierrez, vice president of PHS Staffing. Advantage RN estimates this year it will reach $80 million in annual revenue.

With the acquisition, Advantage RN will expand its services in western states, especially its per diem staffing operations, said President and CEO Matt Price.

“We’re delighted to welcome PHS and their expertise to the Advantage team,” Price said. “PHS Staffing’s focus on per diem staffing, along with their extensive experience in government and allied contracting, is a valuable addition to Advantage’s service offerings. Their strong presence in the western states will further expand our Advantage On Call per diem staffing efforts while strengthening our ability to meet the changing staffing needs of medical facilities and job seekers across the country.”

The acquisition comes soon after Advantage RN in November acquired Centerville-based CAC Employment Services.
