Completed Road Improvement Projects

Centre Pointe Drive
Centre Pointe Drive was extended between Muhlhauser Road and Union Centre Boulevard. Construction began in June 2002 and was completed in Spring 2003. Centre Pointe stretches from West Chester Road at the north, curves through the Centre Pointe Office Park campus, cross Muhlhauser Road at the signal and continue west to Union Centre Boulevard in the vicinity of J.P. Flooring and Kids 'R" Kids daycare.

Cincinnati-Dayton Road
Cincinnati-Dayton Road was widened from two to five lanes from I-75 north to Maud Hughes Road. Construction began April 2001 and was completed in the Fall of 2002. The project includes extensive improvements to the Tylersville and Cincinnati-Dayton Road intersection.

Cox Road
Cox Road was widened from two to five lanes between Tylersville Road and Hamilton Mason Road, 2 lands northbound, 2 southbound, a center turn lane, plus the addition of multiple turn lanes at specific intersections. The intersection at Tylersville Road will be reconfigured and signals will be added at the new University Drive, University Court, the VOA park drive, and Hamilton Mason Road. The traffic signal at the entrance to Kohl's on Tylersville Road will be modified as part of the project. The road was reopened in December 2002 with the final course deferred until Spring 2003.

Interstate I-75 Widening
Interstate I-75 Widening, from Kemper Road in Hamilton County north to Tylersville Road in West Chester Township from 6 to 8 lanes began in December 2002. The interchange at I-275, the Cincinnati regional beltway, will also be improved. The project is being managed by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The project will involve closure and/or partial closure of several overpasses including Allen Road, which will begin in March 2003 and last for approximately 6 months. West Chester Road overpass construction will begin in April 2003 and last for approximately 6 months. Crescentville Road overpass construction will begin late 2003 or possibly early 2004 depending on the weather. the widening of I-75 is scheduled for completion in early 2005.

Port Union Road
Port Union Road was widened to three lanes between Fairfield and State Route 747 in West Chester. The hill was cut down to improve visibility and the road alignment straghtened to improve safety. The bridge was replaced and the road was resurfaced and re-striped. Butler County Engineer's Office managed the project, which began in March 2002 and was completed in Spring 2003.

State Route 747
State Route 747 is scheduled to be upgraded in West Chester to five lanes from south of Smith Road to Tylersville Road. The project is funded for construction beginning 2003 and lasting about one year. Future improvements will widen State Route 747 between Tylersville Road and the Butler Regional Highway. When the full upgrade project is completed, State Route 747 is planned to be five lanes from I-275 in Hamilton County north to State Route 4 in Butler County.

Union Centre Boulevard
Union Centre Boulevard was extended from State Route 747 in 2001 from West Chester to Symmes Road in Fairfield by Butler County, Fairfield and West Chester Township. This new $8 million dollar road unlocked more than 700 acres of land for industrial developments in both West Chester and Fairfield. Construction of the extension began April 2001 and the road opened in December 2001. Union Centre Boulevard is now open from I-75 in West Chester west to Symmes Road in Fairfield with five lanes. Major intersections traveling east to west with traffic signals are Cincinnati-Dayton Road, Interstate 75, Muhlhauser Road, West Chester Road, Beckett Road, State Route 747, and Seward Road at Symmes.

West Chester Road
West Chester Road was widened to three lanes from I-75 to Beckett Road. This project was completed September 2001.

Mack Road/Muhlhauser Road at State Route 4
Mack Road/Muhlhauser Road at State Route 4, a major improvement project in Fairfield began in Spring 2003 to upgrade two major commercial and industrial roadways. A railroad overpass will be constructed for traffic on Muhlhauser Road east of State Route 4, and Mack Road at State Route 4 will be realigned. Muhlhauser Road will be widened from State Route 4 in Fairfield east to State Route 747 in West Chester. State Route 4 will be improved from Seward Road to south of the Mack/Muhlhauser Road intersection. The improvement will last approximately 18 months with the majority of the work being performed on site prepration and construction of the overpass bridge. Construction of the bridge will require closing Muhlhauser road at the CSX railroad tracks and rerouting traffic.

Ohio 747/Railroad Crossing
ODOT will improve Ohio 747 in Springdale (at West Chester's southern line) by constructing a railroad underpass for smoother traffic flow and upgrading the safety level at the tracks. The project will be rebid in October 2003 with construction to begin in the Spring of 2004. The section of the road to be improved is north of I-275 and south of Crescentville Road, which is the line where motorists pass between Springdale and West Chester. When completed, traffic on Ohio 747 will flow below the railroad tracks and the exit ramp from I-275 to north Ohio 747 will be permanently widened.
