ISUZU MOTORS AMERICAN ANNOUNCES NEW PARTS DISTRIBUTION CENTER
On April 13th, 1999, the Union Township Community Improvement Corporation hosted a press conference to announce the selection of West Chester, Ohio for a new Parts Distribution Center (PDC) for Isuzu Motors America, Inc. Promax Automotive, Inc. has been selected to operate the new PDC for Izuzu, and will relocate its corporate headquarter from Michigan. Duke Realty Investments will develop and own the new facility, through a lease with Promax Automotive.
Total investment at the new facility is estimated to be over $88 million dollars, including $11 million for the new building, $3.15 million in new machinery and equipment/furniture and fixtures, and $74 million dollars in new inventory.
The new PDC will be approximately 625,000 square feet, making it one of the largest buildings in West Chester. It will be located on East Provident Drive near other companies that have recently constructed new facilities, including Beiersdorf, Inc. and totes Isotoner.
West Chester was selected for the new PDC over competing sites in Indiana and Illinois. The new facility will replace current distribution facilities in Texas, Georgia, and Maryland.
Speaking at the press conference, Harold Thomas, vice president of Parts and Accessory Sales for Isuzu Motors America stated "Isuzu's bottom line goal is to increase our already impressive turnaround time for the shipment of parts to support our dealers, and to to it with talented people who make this area their home. In today's competitive technically demanding market, we need educated and motivated personnel to help make our business a continued success."
Sho Yokokawa, General Manager of Service Parts Operation for Promax also expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating "because this will be our new corporate headquarters, I am looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship with West Chester and the Greater Cincinnati area community."
