WEST CHESTER NAMED A "1998 RED CARNATION COMMUNITY"

On October 19, 1998, West Chester was selected as a "1998 Red Carnation Community" at the Ohio Development Association's Annual Meeting. West Chester received the award for its outstanding economic and community development.

West Chester also received special recognition as the "1998 Best in Class" Award winner with a superior rating by the judges, the only community to receive this designation.

The Red Carnation Community Award, sponsored by the Ohio Development Association, recognizes outstanding economic and community development efforts of Ohio communities. The Red Carnation Community Award is based on three areas: written documentation, visual presentation and an interview with a panel of judges.

The written documentation incorporated community information in four categories, including Economic/Community Development, Education, Health and Medical, and Recreation and Travel. In addition to these categories, the written documentation was required to include a Title Page, an Index Page, an Introduction, Current and Proposed Use of the entry material, Community Data Profile and a listing of Long Term Projects.
