As Cincinnati and Dayton continue to converge, West Chester is emerging as the economic center of the Cincinnati-Dayton Metroplex. This super-region, with two international airports, ranks 15th in the nation with a population of nearly 3 million. West Chester today is Greater Cincinnati's 5th largest community and is projected to become the 2nd largest community in the Cincinnati MSA behind the City of Cincinnati.

	American Tire Distributors American Tires Distributors, serving tire retailers and service shops nationwide, announced it will open an 85,500 square-foot distribution facility at 4520 LeSaint Court off Port Union Road in Interstate Commerce Center. 	Beckett Park Boundless Playground Beckett Park Boundless Playground, a playground designed to encourage children of all abilities to play together, will undergo several improvements at Beckett Park. The next phase of Beckett Park improvements includes the restoration of the lake area, new restroom facilities, parking, shelters, playgrounds and walking/bike paths throughout the park.  The project is being funded through tax increment financing with additional funding through the State of Ohio Cultural Facilities Commission and Boundless Playgrounds.  The Boundless Playground was built in fall 2009 with volunteers and funding support from Procter & Gamble and CVS Caremark. The playground is located halfway between the Muhlhauser Barn and The West Chester Baseball Complex off Union Centre Boulevard (Downtown District). 	Black Lab Ventures, LLC Black Lab Ventures, LLC, an HR management consulting business that focuses on onboarding, training & development, performance management, and health & wellness initiatives.  Black Lab Ventures opened an office at 7723 Tylers Place Boulevard off Tylersville Road (Uptown District). 	Guardian Savings Bank Guardian Savings Bank, originally chartered in 1895, Guardian has now grown to 9 offices in the Tri-State area. In 2009, Intelligrated consolidated four existing facilities into three facilities, closing its Kentucky operations. The commitment to West Chester translated into 335 jobs retained. 	Miami University Voice of America Learning Center Miami University’s Voice of America Learning Center (VOALC) opened for classes in January 2009 with 389 students registered in 28 courses and workshops. Today the VOALC serves over 550 students registered in 41 courses and workshops, with a full schedule of courses and workshops set in place for the coming summer months. Combining undergraduate and graduate courses and programs from Miami’s Hamilton, Middletown, and Oxford campuses, the Center is home to the Farmer School of Business’ Professional MBA program, which is currently recruiting for its Fall 2010 class that will begin this August. Area educators are enjoying the convenience of having graduate courses in education so close to home and work, and taking advantage of Miami’s TEAM scholarship which supports their professional development. Undergraduate students have an array of daytime and evening course and program options, including the Bachelor’s of Integrative Studies baccalaureate program from Miami’s regional campuses. 	Union Savings Bank Union Savings Bank, a state-chartered savings association headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, announced it will open a new 15,000 square-foot branch at 7615 Voice of America Centre Drive (VOA/Uptown District). Union Savings Bank was founded in 1904 on the premise that a savings association should serve the community by encouraging savings and promoting affordable home ownership through prudent lending of deposits. Union Savings Bank now operates 25 full-service savings branches in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Ohio and Indianapolis. Union Savings acquired the former People's Bank building for $1.7 million. West Chester has become an employment epicenter in the region with over 3,000 thriving businesses and over 50,000 employees. There is a labor force of more than 1.7 million within a 30-minute commute. Driving this employment growth are factors such as three of the ten largest regional industrial parks are located in West Chester, as is a regional medical campus with a full-service hospital, five universities, along with the continued growth of the 7th largest public school system in Ohio, the nationally acclaimed Lakota Schools, ranking as Ohio’s largest “Excellent” school district eight years running.

This advantageous regional location positioned West Chester Township to begin experiencing strong business growth in the 1970’s as development moved northward from Cincinnati and Hamilton County along I-75. Today, the interior of the Cincinnati regional beltway is almost fully developed, which is driving new growth north to West Chester, the first community outside the beltway.

In 1997, the first new interchange constructed in Southwest Ohio in two decades opened in West Chester. The Union Centre/I-75 Interchange (the “Interchange”), located two miles north of Cincinnati’s regional beltway I-275, has significantly increased the business sector in the Township. The Interchange opening provided immediate interstate access to approximately 3,000 acres of undeveloped land, making the Township a highly sought-after location for business growth in the Greater Cincinnati area. In the ten-year period since the opening of the Interchange, West Chester saw over $1.5 billion dollars invested in real and personal property, nearly 17 million square feet of new construction, and over 17,000 new jobs have been created in this district.

One of the key components of the Central Business District is the development of the Class-A office market, featuring a range of office products from mid-rise towers and single-story office condo projects. Following the opening of the new Interchange in 2000, a nationally prominent developer, Higgins Land Development headquartered in Chicago, began constructing the Township’s first Class A office buildings, Centre Pointe Office Park. Duke Realty, a national Indianapolis-based REIT, acquired the complex in 2004 and continued to expand the park.

There are currently six completed buildings in Centre Pointe Office Park for a total of 768,000 square feet of Class A office space. With completion of the sixth office building in 2008, the park ranks as the 6th largest suburban complex in the region.

The newest addition to Union Centre business district in 2009 was Duke Realty’s construction of two new 210,000 square-foot Class A office buildings for GE Aviation. These two buildings serve as the administrative offices for GE Aviation’s engineering department and house 1,400 employees. Phase II of the development, North Pointe at Union Centre, will include two additional four-story buildings to bring the complex to over 800,000 square feet of new office space with Interstate visibility. In addition, GE Aviation renewed the lease for its existing 69,000 square-feet of office space in Centre Pointe Office Park Building I, which houses 275 employees.
