2000 Projects
Brands Insurance
Brands Insurance, a provider of insurance services to the transportation industry including bonding, permitting, and fuel tax reporting, began construction in the Fall of 2000 on a new, 12,000 square foot facility. This new construction represented a $1,050,000 investment and 18 additional positions within 3 years of its completion. The project was completed in the Fall 2001.
Cinmar and Cornerstone Consolidated Services Company
Cinmar and Cornerstone Consolidated Services Company completed a significant project in 2000 with a new 865,000 square foot office, distribution and retail building. This new facility serves as the corporate headquarters for Cinmar, an upscale catalog company that publishes the Frontgate, Splash and TravelSmith catalogs, and a central distribution facility for Cinmar and several of its sister companies (Cornerstone Brands, Inc.) A 50,000 square foot retail store opened on the site as well.
Corporate Express, a Buhrmann Company
Corporate Express, a Buhrmann Company, expanded its regional office and distribution center in April 2000. A major component of the project was the doubling of the company's office space to 170,000 square feet and significant upgrades to the building. The $4,000,000 investment brought with it 175 new jobs for West Chester.
Cummins Interstate Power, Inc.
Cummins Interstate Power, Inc., a Hilliard, Ohio-based diesel engine sales and service company, moved its tri-state branch from Evendale to a new, 40,000 square foot facility at 5400 Rialto Road in West Chester. The company broke ground October 15, 2000 on the $4 million project, which included a two-story office and showroom building, a 22-bay parts and repair center, and a power generation facility. The buildings cover approximately 6 acres, and house 50 employees. This is the largest of Cummin's seven branch facilities in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Schumacher Dugan was the developer on this project which opened for business in June 2001.
Filltek
Filltek, a logistics provider for internet catalog and retail companies, leased a 306,000 square foot facility in Duke's World Park December of 2000. This $1.2 million dollar investment brought 85 jobs to West Chester and is expected to increase to 400 employees within the first three years.
Jack of All Games, Inc.
Jack of All Games, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Take Two Interactive Software Inc., relocated its corporate operations including 83 employees to a 206,000 square foot facility on Global Way in West Chester in October 2000. Jack of All Games is the largest distributor of video game software, hardware and accessories in the United States.
Liz Claiborne
Liz Claiborne signed an agreement with West Chester Township to begin construction of its 675,000 square foot facility in September 2000. This new distribution center of fashion apparel and accessories will allow for a future expansion of approximately 225,000 square feet. Liz began construction in April 2001 and is scheduled to open in the summer of 2002. This corporation proposed a long-term employment base of 280 employees.
Marriott Hotel
Marriott Hotel opened an eight story, 285 room full-service hotel in the Fall of 2000. The hotel sits on 8.5 acres at the corner of Union Centre Boulevard and Muhlhauser Roads making available to the community over 12,000 square feet of meeting space.
Republic Wire
Republic Wire, a manufacturer of bare copper wire and insulated copper building wire for homes, apartments, office buildings and shopping centers, completed a 65,000 square foot expansion of its existing 62,000 square foot facility in the Fall of 2000 increasing their employment base from 65 to 105 employees.
Rockwell Automation
Rockwell Automation consolidated its greater Cincinnati and Dayton operations to a new 16,000 square foot facility in West Chester in April of 2000. This move brought with it 85 new jobs for West Chester Township. Rockwell has signed a lease for space to be used as an office headquarters for sales, research and development, and customer training.
Systecon
Systecon, a West Chester company who designs and assembles custom pumping controls for HVAC water systems, relocated its offices into an existing 60,000 square foot facility in West Chester's Schumacher Park in September of 2000. Systecon currently has 62 employees and plans to add 26 new positions within the next three years. This relocation represented a $2,500,000 investment by Systecon.
West Chester Centre, a 20,000 square foot retail center, was completed in 2000 and now houses an assortment of retail/service establishments including upscale stores as Yelton Fine Jewelry and Queen Anne's Fine Gifts. Cornerstone Café, Great Steak and Potato, Advanced Digital and Wireless, ReMax and Bajon Salons are also located in the plaza.
